Wintek's 6809 Control Module is designed to be used in a wide variety of applications, including dedicated real-time control, data acquisition, instrumentation, communications, and robotics. Based on Motorola's advanced 6809 microprocessor, this module combines the processor, memory, and input/output functions on a compact single board. Its low cost makes it ideal for prototyping or one-of-a-kind designs. Volume discounts make the 6809 Control Module a cost-effective solution for production runs.
Built on an industry-standard 4.5-by-6.5 inch circuit board, the Control Module includes the 6809, real-time clock interrupt, power-on reset & watchdog-timer circuit, two RS-232 serial ports, and four parallel ports with handshaking lines. Four memory sites accommodate a mixture of byte-wide RAMs and EPROMs for a maximum of 64K bytes on the board.
With two serial ports and 40 lines of parallel input/output, the 6809 Control Module can be used in many systems without additional memory or peripherals. Its small size enables its application in situations that prevent the use of bulky or multi-carded solutions. Off-the-shelf availability means fast new product development.
The Motorola 6809 is a high-performance 8-bit microcomputer offering many 16-bit arithmetic instructions. The instruction set is easy to learn and is ideally suited for dedicated control applications.
Most of Wintek's Micro Module Interfaces can be used with the 6809 Control Module, including the Parallel I/O, Power I/O, Driver/Sensor, Parallel Breadboard, Serial I/O, Analog, GPIB, Counter/Timer, and Floppy Disk. Add a RAM/ROM Module if you need RAM with battery backup or large amounts of memory.
The 44-pin bus used by the 6809 Control Module is based on the 6800 family of microprocessors. Most 6800 peripherals can be connected to the bus using only one additional gate, making custom interfaces easy to design.
Wintek also offers software for the 6809. A C Compiler, Motorola-compatible Macro Assembler, Linker, and Terminal Emulator for the IBM PC speed program development. Y2K Compliance.
The Fantom 9 monitor is a ROM program that helps you debug your programs rapidly. Fantom 9 is normally used to load a prototype applications from a development system via the serial RS-232 port and confirm the proper operation of this program by single-stepping and breakpointing.
The program under test may be examined in mnemonic form using Fantom 9's built-in disassembler. It may be modified using the one-line assembler that accepts mnemonic-form instructions, calculates branch offsets, and evaluates expressions.
